She was an apprentice for An American Place, a restaurant located in the city of New York for a year. Guarnaschelli started her career in the kitchen by watching as she watched mom, who was editing cookbooks try out a wide range of recipes. After a stint with Larry Forgione in New York, France and Los Angeles she also worked at Guy Savoy's La Butte Chaillot. Then she became the executive chef of Butter. Guarnaschelli appeared on the Food Network's Iron Chef America where she took on Cat Cora in the Farmers Market Battle of 2007. She also competed in the third place of the season up in The Next Iron Chef, and she has served as a judge for the show from the beginning. Also, she lost in the Food Network Challenge Ultimate Thanksgiving Feast. In the fourth season she was appointed Geoffrey Zakarian's sous-chef.
